Vintage True Black Bakelite Bar Brooch! Lovely Deep Diagonal/Crosscut Carvings!

Description

This lovely vintage Bakelite brooch was carved from jet black colored Bakelite. The Art Deco Era design is beautifully carved with deep diagonal carvings down the middle of the brooch with cross hatch carvings on both ends of the brooch.
The brooch has a rectangular shape that measures 2 7/8" by 3/4" and is 3/8" thick.
The brooch's pin is original to the piece and has a  "c" clasp that is in good working order and stays closed when worn.
The brooch weighs 12 grams. No chips or cracks were noted and the brooch tested positive for Bakelite using the hot water test. True black Bakelite often does not test positive for Bakelite with Simichrome polish. When that occurs, as was the case here, you have to rely on the default hot water test. After dipping the brooch into hot water for a couple of seconds the brooch gave off a strong pheno-formaldehyde odor associated with Bakelite.
