    Description

FOR SALE OR TRADE - SCHUCO TACHO-EXAMICO TIN CLOCKWORK RED CAR 4002. THIS 4002 HAS THE CLASSIC SCHUCO BODY (OF WHICH MOST FOLKS REFER TO THIS AS A "BUICK"). THE BODY IS MADE OUT OF PRESSED TIN WITH A NICE TIN LITHOGRAPHY (PAINT) FINISH. HERE IT IS RED IN COLOR. THE INTERIOR IS ALSO RED. THE CAR MEASURES ABOUT 6 1/4" INCHES LONG AND 2 1/2" INCHES WIDE.
THIS 4002 TACHO-EXAMICO IS UNIQUE IN THE SCHUCO WORLD AS YOU ACTUALLY USE THE SHIFTER LEVER LOCATED ON THE STEERING COLUMN TO ALLOW THIS 4002 TO ENTER A "LOW" FORWARD SPEED (SHIFTED TO THE LEFT) OR A "HIGH" FORWARD SPEED (SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT). LOCATED BETWEEN THESE TWO SPEEDS YOU HAVE "NEUTRAL" WHICH WILL ALLOW THE CLOCKWORK MOTOR TO FULLY DISCHARGE (RECOMMENDED WHEN NOT IN USE). IN ADDITION, IF YOU PUSH THIS LEVER TO THE LEFT  ("LOW" SPEED) WHILE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON, YOU CAN MANUALLY PUSH THIS LEVER DOWN WHICH WILL ALSO DISCHARGE THE CLOCKWORK DRIVE ON DEMAND.
ANOTHER COOL FEATURE IS THAT WHEN YOU SHIFT THIS 4002 INTO GEAR, THE SPEEDOMETER IS SUPPOSED TO ADVANCE ALLOWING YOU TO SEE IF IT'S IN "LOW" OR "HIGH" SPEED. AND WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO "NEUTRAL" THE SPEEDOMETER WILL GO TO "0" INDICATING IT'S NOW IDLING! UNFORTUNATELY THE NEEDLE OR
    INDICATOR
FOR THE SPEEDOMETER IS MISSING FROM THE
    GAUGE
    ON THE DASH (SEE PICTURES)
THE TINY STEERING WHEEL DOES OPERATE (STEER) THE FRONT WHEELS AND YOU HAVE A NICE WORKING "EMERGENCY BRAKE" ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BENCH SEAT.
THE BODY 4002 IS IN GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF WHERE THE ORIGINAL PAINT HAS COME OFF WHICH CAN BE SEEN ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT REAR FENDER. YOU ALSO HAVE A SMALL DIMPLE OR DENT IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. THERE IS ALSO MANY SMALL SURFACE SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT FROM PLAY (MAY POLISH OUT WITH A LITTLE EFFORT).
THE INTERIOR IS IN  GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION AND ORIGINAL TO THIS 4002. THE WINDSHIELD IS ORIGINAL BUT IS FAR FROM PERFECT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE WINDSHIELD WAS GLUED BACK ONTO THE CAR AND GOT GLUE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND THE COWL OF THE CAR (SEE PICTURES).
THE CLOCKWORK DRIVE IS STILL STRONG & FULLY ORIGINAL AND DUE TO THIS 4002'S ABILITY TO DISCHARGE IT (PLACE THE SHIFTER LEVER INTO "NEUTRAL"), IT HAS DECADES OF USAGE LEFT IN IT! ALL ONE HAS TO DO IS TO EXERCISE A LITTLE DILIGENCE WHEN IT COMES TO WINDING THIS BABY UP! I BELIEVE THE KEY IS IT'S ORIGINAL KEY.
THIS IS AN ORIGINAL SCHUCO MODEL AND IS NOT A RE-MANUFACTURED MODEL!! THIS MODEL, AS SO HALLMARKED, WAS/IS MADE IN THE U.S.-ZONE OF GERMANY WHICH EXISTED BETWEEN THE YEARS 1945 ~ 1949.
