  • Condition: African Fulani wool marriage blanket. Museum Quality103" X 54"Museum quality Fulani Wedding blanket made of wool. My understanding is that it is camel hair. These blankets are made by the nomadic people of the Sahara desert. Because they can not travel with large looms, the blanket is made of several foot wide pieces that are carefully stitched together. Both sides are the same. No back or front. I purchased this hand woven blanket in 1964. Shortly thereafter I returned to the states, packed away the blanket and forgot it. Fifty-six years latter I unpacked it to find the condition like new. No dirt. The yellowish shading seen in the pictures is from the shadows and play of light. The blanket is white. I can provide notarized documentation as to the age of the blanket. The blanket is is in mint condition. Not only hand woven, the yarn as well is hand spun. These blankets are part of the marriage dowry of a Fulani maiden. The Fulani nomads raise camels & goats.Ship free.
