    Description

Scarce early original vintage Wide World press photograph shows King George Vl viewing a row of machine guns as he visits a small arms factory in Great Britain.
Full caption can be seen on back.
During the war, King George VI and his wife the Queen provided morale support for the British people, visiting bomb sites and munitions factories. He had also taken a keen interest in the war on a strategic level; after his personal request, he was briefed on the overall plan for Operation Overlord against the Normandy beaches by Dwight Eisenhower and his lieutenants.
Photograph measures 5 x 7 inches and is in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity.  Back has writing mentioned above.
